KUTANism is a festival promoting the charm of Kutani porcelain and its production places, cities of Nomi and Komatsu in Ishikawa prefecture. It was first conducted in 2019, and this second time it will be conducted in a form of an online museum. We offer various contents, including an exhibition of artwork and guided tours that will give a taste of a real trip. There is also a number of contents changing every week during the festival period. We hope you enjoy the KUTANism online museum!
Extension works connecting the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Kanazawa in central Ishikawa Prefecture through the southern Kaga region and Fukui Prefecture are slated for completion in 2023, lining up perfectly with the 1200th year anniversary of the founding of Kaga Province (present day Kaga region). From within this region, the two cities of Komatsu and Nomi, as the origins of the world-famous Kutani ceramics, are taking this monumental opportunity to promote our craft to the world. And thus, this massive project was born. With various initiatives in the works, this collaboration makes use of the collective resources of both our cities, to promote and further the brand of Kutani to the world.
